Camacho Diploma - Harkens back to the college phenomenon known as Goldschlager
Remmeber Goldschlager?
Remember the cinnamon-flavored cordial with the flecks of gold floating around?
Do you recall its power intoxicating effects? I have a buddy who upon hearing the magical word "Goldschlager" makes a b-line for the toilet, overcome with nausea.
The Camacho Diploma that I bought at Nat Sherman today reminded me of Goldschlager as within its oily brown wrapper flecks of gold could be spotted. Although the flecks of gold are not by design and actually a result of gold leaf packaging, the spiciness and euphoria experienced enjoying this cigar made me flash back to the chilled shots of 'schlager.
This cigar is expertly desgined may lack the cinnamon punch of the liquer, its overall spiciness made my nose wrinkle a bit. Despite its impactful flavor, it is a smooth smoke that burns and draws as smoothly as 'schlager travelled down one's throat.
Foolishly, I enjoyed this smoke on an empty stomach and nearly paid the price that my 'schlagerphobic buddy often paid upon consumption. Lesson learned.
Christian Eiroa has earned his "diploma" for sure with this creation and at $12.50 per smoke, the cigar not only maintains the brand's reputation for potent and flavorful cigars, but also provides a high-end, highly refined and contructed smoke.
An easy 91 in my book, I am sure "Enthusianados" will agree.
