Fonseca Cubano Limitado - Pairing with Beer
As the rains subsided here in New Jersey, a crisp stary night was upon us, complete with a Harvest Moon. This was the perfect back drop to enjoy a fine cigar and a flavorful beer to usher in autumn. As my friends over at Social Cigar have been mulling over for the past few weeks now, pairing cigars with well-crafted beers is what all the cool kids are doing.
On this fine evening, I enjoyed a Fonseca Cubano Limitado and a Magic Hat #9. The richness of this cigar brought out somewhat of a toasted marshmallow taste followed by notes of coffee. The cigar has a clean finish, letting nothing linger in your palette. Adding to the enjoyment was the hoppy #9, which carries with it raspberry notes.
It was a wonderful combination -- this is a muscular cigar that yields creamy and firm ashes despite its almost-dessert like flavor.
